Semi-private lessons in Violin
In this class for beginning/intermediate violin students, we will learn technical basics, elementary theory points, and practice techniques which will enable students to play beginning Suzuki repertoire. The class will be conducted as a masterclass, incorporating observation as well as individual attention with each student. During the semester there will be two "mini-recitals" to showcase the polished pieces of selected
students.
At the end of the semester there will be a Grand Recital that includes both solo and group performances from all
students in our theatre.
Each student must provide his or her own violin after the first class – rental references will be provided (approx. rental fee is $15/month).
The materials
fee is for shoulder rests only.
Class Time: 1 hour. This is a 14 week class.
Weekly Private lessons are also available for $25 for 30 minutes.
Christine Auger Velez has over ten years experience teaching violin and piano lessons to students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. She majored in music at Western Washington University and at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College of CUNY, studying privately with Professor Burton Kaplan from the Manhattan School of Music. She has performed professionally everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the local coffee shop, and many places in between.
Christine's students have enjoyed such successes as earning placement at first stand of the InterSchool Orchestras Concert Orchestra of NYC, and acceptance after audition into LaGuardia High School for the Arts. On a less glamorous but undeniably vital level, her students have experienced the deep satisfaction that comes from hard work and perseverance, how to be poised in front of groups, how to audition successfully, how to effectively cooperate with others, and the sheer joy of music.
